PROBIOTICS – HOW TO USE THEM AND WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING THEM

Updated: Aug 1, 2023

Probiotics are having a moment…we are being pushed to “up our immunity” but what does that mean and how can taking probiotics help in your quest for good health.

With so many brands of probiotics available, how do you choose the right one for you? Let’s take a deeper look at these wonderful and life-giving, little microbes.

Probiotics (“pro-life”) come from ancient cultures that understood consuming food items like fermented vegetables, Kefirs, Krauts, Kvass, Yogurt, Kombuchas, Kimchi, Miso, etc. added beneficial microbes into the gut in order to produce diversity and bacterium needed to assist in the creation of white blood cells and have complete digestion. Much like soil, our gut needs a variety of good bacteria and in the right environment to have balance and strength for maximum digestion.

Unfortunately, most of us have to seek out fermented products and eat them with some regularity to help build our microbial garden internally. It’s much easier to get these microbes in supplemental form.

For the last 20 years, probiotics have consisted of equal parts Lactobacillus (for the small intestine) and Bifidobacterium (for the large intestine) in a variety of about 10-14 strains of bacteria. This may have been fine years ago since Americans were eating a more regular, whole-food diet with less anti-biotics. However, in this day and age, we are ingesting GMOs, Glysophate and have more stress and antibiotics than ever before. Very few of us are living with strong gut health and therefore probiotic companies are creating advance delivery technology to bring more diversified strains to those of us who need it.

The newest form of Probiotics is delivered in SPORE form. We tend to think of spores as something like a mold spore which is not healthy, however these new SPORE probiotics are being used by people that have weakened gut (usually through over anti-biotic (“anti-life) regimes. The most researched spore biotic is a product called MEGASPORE that was the first FDA approved spore-biotic used for AUTOIMMUNE conditions. These spores bury deep in the tissue of the gut and assist with bloating, gas and general dysbiosis. These help create white blood cells used for immune function. Spores are not regular probiotics, so my recommendation is to take both a Spore biotic and a strong, full-spectrum probiotic.

What we have learned about gut imbalance, or what we call gut Dysbiosis, is that most of us do not have enough good microbes to be fully healthy. With that in mind, companies are now going beyond the max of 14 strains of diversified microbes and giving us so many more that birth control, poor diet and antibiotics kill off.

My favorite new probiotics are from Vital Planet. They offer 100 STRAINS in a delayed time release capsule. I’ve been working with them and recommending them now for almost a year and have found that they bring down the level of “bad” microbes, stop gas and bloating and help bring back that strong, natural health in the gut.

Want to know if your probiotics work well in your gut? Blend up some fresh coconut meat and open some capsules over it and come back two hours later to see if its overflowing with fermentation, that’s how you’ll know that it works!

After you start taking a full spectrum, strong probiotic or spore biotic, notice that your digestion is better and that you aren’t catching colds anymore. In this day and age, we need to keep these bellies in good working order because we are living so unnaturally that we need all the help we can get.

My advice…get your microbes from your foods as best you can and add a probiotic supplement to up your immunity.

Your best defense is to clear the gut via a session of Colon Hydrotherapy and then begin adding in good microbes and feed them with whole, organic foods and grow them into a beautiful garden of healthy bacterium that will give you your best defense from outside bacteria, fungus, yeast, parasites, mold and viruses.

Finally, probiotics aren’t; magic, they don’t solve everything – but they can be extremely helpful if you have gut issues. Consult with your doctor to determine if probiotics are indicated for your health condition. If so, get one that really works and give yourself a fighting chance to being radiantly healthy!
